Credit card applications are easy. Is this statement true? Obviously – yes and no. Why yes and why not? These are the questions you will hopefully get answers to after you read this article. I will not try to convince you, I will just give you the facts and you will make decisions on your own. Here are some frequently asked questions and supposedly objective answers.
• With all the variety of credit cards, how should I choose the right one? The thing is that credit cards really come in a lot of variants and with different features, and the latter is what you have to consider while choosing a credit card. I suppose you will agree that it is unwise to apply for a personal credit card if you need to use it for business. Or to choose a credit card with discount on flight tickets if you never travel by plane. Or to apply for a credit card with large annual fee if you will use it very rarely in the most extreme cases. There are a lot of silly things people do while choosing a credit card, and finally they find themselves with a credit card they don’t need.
• What fees a credit card can include? In most cases this will be annual fee, fee for late payments, fee for not using your card for a long time, and credit cards with balance transfer option can have transfer fee.
• What types of interest rates are there? Interest rates can be either fixed or variable. Variable interest rates can vary depending on different factors, the economy of the country in particular. Fixed interest rates remain the same no matter what. But there are some cases in which the credit card company can change even fixed interest rates, but they have to inform you beforehand.
• What incentives are there? There are point rewards, flight miles, discounts, grace periods, and some other, but the foregoing are the most common. Choose your credit card with respective incentives according to your lifestyle and habits.
As you see, there are plenty of options to choose from. Some people think that this fact contributes to the easiness of credit card application, and some, on the contrary, state that it makes it difficult and complicated. But I say that it is all in your hands. If you are able to define your purposes and needs distinctly, you will know for sure what you need and what to look for. But if you don’t know exactly what you need, don’t expect the credit card application be easy for you. It is better to wait till you know your needs, otherwise you can get a credit card that in incompatible with your habits and lifestyle.
