Over 1 Million Bankruptcies So Far in 2009

Consumer bankruptcy filings increased 4 percent between August and September, the American Bankruptcy Institute reported. Banruptcies were up 41 percent compared to September 2008. From January through September, 1,046,449 consumer bankruptcies were filed.
