California Enacts Several New Mortgage Laws

California’s yesterday signed several bills designed to protect borrowers from risky loan products and predatory lenders, according to a press release. One new law "would codify a fiduciary duty for mortgage brokers" on higher priced mortgage. Another requires that appraisal management companies register with the state.
