Fast Pace of Bank Mergers to Pick Up

The Federal Reserve Board reported that it recently received 10 applications for bank mergers and acquisitions. In addition, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency notified three banks that it had approved their applications for acquisitions. An analyst interviewed by The Wall Street Transcript indicated that he xpects to see an increase in bank merger activity in the second half of 2010, while 2011 could be very good for such activity.
